Our Church History
Founders Reverend Fred E. Hannah &
Lottie E. Hannah

After much prayer and seeking God’s direction, fifteen people assembled at the home of the (late) Reverend Fred A. Hannah and his wife Lottie A. Hannah on West Cliff Ave in Henrico Virginia.  They held a meeting to establish this church October 2, 1980. In 1993 they moved into the current location on 2311 Ford Ave Richmond, Virginia. In 1997 the sanctuary was completed with pews and church furniture. In 1998 the fellowship hall was dug with the help of Diaconate Beatrice Adams of Triumphant Center Baptist Church.

After the death of her husband, Mother Lottie Hannah continued to do God’s work here as she served faithfully and kept the doors of the church open for ten years after his death.  God knew what Blessed Hope needed and in the midst of a pandemic, he sent a man to Blessed Hope who is not afraid to preach the Word to the people,

that man was Bishop-Elect MJ Jefferson.

Bishop-Elect MJ Jefferson came to Blessed Hope in May of 2021.

At that time the church only had ten active members.

Churches around the world were shutting down due to the Covid Pandemic, But God! During the Pandemic, Blessed Hope began to grow.

Bishop-Elect MJ Jefferson used what God and his parents put in him over twenty years ago to draw people near and add to the established legacy of the great Blessed Hope Baptist Church.

To date Blessed Hope has over two hundred active members and is a true testimony of what God can do!
